Self portrait vs. selfie
*was absent and is making up this work*
After reading this article, I can conclude that there are indeed some differences between a self portrait and a selfie. It seems to me that selfies reflect more on what is around you and what you look like, and self portraits are more about showing parts of yourself you may not be able to see right when you look at someone. It reflects more on your character.
You can probably say that almost everyone in the country of America has taken AT LEAST one selfie. It can flaunt your perks of what you like about yourself, and can show off what you're doing and how people are missing out on the cool stuff in your life. As for me, self portraits seem to reflect more on the artistry and deeper meaning of a person. Both pieces of art have the ability to be created by the person, or else it wouldn't have "self" in the name. With similarities comes differences, and this is one of those times.
Selfies surely pose to be the easier of the two. Just take out your phone and snap, you have a selfie. A self portrait may require more thought to where you take the picture, lighting, and so forth. Both can be equally important, but if you are looking for a picture or work of art so mean something or speak to you, look through those self portraits at the art museum a few blocks away. (if there even is one)!!
